The Story
From the street
to Bixby.
I was getting ready to go into eleventh grade when we got evicted. I came home and walked up the sidewalk toward our apartment complex — and there it was. My entire childhood bedroom set sitting on the curb. My furniture. My pictures from high school. All of it out on the street for anyone to see.
While other kids my age were thinking about college applications, I was figuring out where I was going to sleep.
Christia Picks is named after my father's middle name, Christopher. He was in a terrible car accident — and that's when everything changed for our family. But I watched him get knocked down by something completely out of his control, and still find a way to give. Years later, he gave me and my sister the down payment for our first home.
I spent decades moving — Maryland, Florida, Chicago — never fully decorating, always something unfinished. Then I came to Tulsa through the Tulsa Remote program. I made a decision: I am not waiting. I decorated immediately. Put art on the walls. Made it home. And then I bought a house in Bixby — the first home that has ever been fully, completely mine.
Christia Picks is that method — made for everyone who's ever felt like they had to wait.

Mint green walls. Weekly rental. Learning that you can always do something — no matter how bad the space starts out.
Germantown, MD
Townhouse with my sister. The rule was born: if we both don't love it on sight, we leave it. No convincing.
